A lot has happened since my last post so here goes... Funnyworks Oz has expanded into tutoring NDIS funded families and individuals so a lot more clients now being tutored weekly and fortnightly which is fantastic. Supporting individuals with cartooning and art therapy based sessions - not an art therapist but specialising in lots of life skill and goal-setting themes as well as communication and emotion sessions that are also a lot of fun! Trainworks at Thirlmere invited Funnyworks Oz to be part of their Big Draw event 8th and 9th October weekend where I drew trains and carriages of the museum onto 10m of paper and caricaturing people into the art piece. Full on quick draw approach which was great fun and you'll see images on my website of…
A busy time at the moment running workshops around Canberra including team building and goals workshop for Inanna - lots of fun for an hour or so with much interaction and quick drawing. Also in the process of planning on line and school holiday workshops for Museum of Australian Democracy. Learn how to create caricatures of politicians from basic shapes as part of the Behind the Lines exhibition! A fun and educational on line series for primary and secondary school ages and soon to be launched. Autumn holiday program workshops at MOAD from 11th-20th April - book online through MOAD and a fun and interactive experience guaranteed!
Funnyworks Oz and St Vincent De Pauls Clementes Program have just completed a two week cartooning and caricaturing program which was very interactive and a lot of fun. Groups of 30+ were taught basic cartooning techniques including drawing cartoon character types, as well as drawing caricatures of some famous faces - lots of fantastic interpretations from each group! Posts will be more regularly updated this year as Funnyworks Oz will hopefully be involved in lots of new and exciting ventures.
The National Museum of Australia will be holding a NAIDOC event on Sunday 5th July including lots of great live music and exhibitions which Funnyworks Oz will be a part of. I'll be quick drawing people's opinions and interpretations regarding defining moments in Australian history and their own defining moments in life - this will be drawn on a large art board and become a permanent piece in the museum! Really looking forward to the experience and hope to see you there!
'Funnyworks Oz' was a feature article in this week's City News publication, featuring a cover photo of yours truly! A great opportunity to promote the business and inform people about Funnyworks Oz and programs provided for the Canberra Community. Also some very accurate depictions of me including "maniacal expression of concentration"...too true! :) Article link: https://citynews.com.au/2014/andrew-draws-line-funny-faces/
