Been A Hectic Time Of Year!

Funnyworks Oz has been flat out running around in circles lately with lots of caricaturing, conference scribing and community programs/tutoring events in the past couple of months.

Some wonderful opportunities for me lately which is great and looking forward to a v productive 2017 with exciting new ventures to come!

A Lot’s Happened Since My Last Post

A lot has happened since my last post so here goes…

Funnyworks Oz has expanded into tutoring NDIS funded families and individuals so a lot more clients now being tutored weekly and fortnightly which is fantastic.  Supporting individuals with  cartooning and art therapy based sessions – not an art therapist but specialising in lots of lifeskill and goal setting themes as well as communication and emotion sessions that are also a lot of fun!

Trainworks at Thirlmere invited Funnyworks Oz to be part of their Big Draw event 8th and 9th October weekend where I drew trains and carriages of the museum onto 10m of paper and caricaturing people into the art piece.  Full on quick draw approach which was great fun and you’ll see images on my website of the event soon!

Also v humbled to receive the Mental Health Reciprocity Award as part of MH week – a big thanks to Jewel and all those involved with my endorsement in an area with so many wonderful providers, it was certainly a great surprise and still have a smile on the dial 🙂

More to come in what will be a v busy next month or so…

Victor Flashback – Raiders v Storm 2012

Victor the Viking - Canberra Raiders v Melbourne Storm NRL

Best of luck to Victor and the mighty Canberra Raiders in their massive NRL Final against the Storm this Saturday night! One lump or two, Melbourne?

New Workshops

A busy time at the moment running workshops around Canberra including team building and goals workshop for Inanna – lots of fun for an hour or so with much interaction and quick drawing.

Also in the process of planning on line and school holiday workshops for Museum of Australian Democracy.  Learn how to create caricatures of politicians from basic shapes as part of the Behind the Lines exhibition!  A fun and educational on line series for primary and secondary school ages and soon to be launched. Autumn holiday program workshops at MOAD from 11th-20th April – book online through MOAD and a fun and interactive experience guaranteed!

Clementes Quick Draw Workshops

Funnyworks Oz and St Vincent De Pauls Clementes Program have just completed a two week cartooning and caricaturing program which was very interactive and a lot of fun.  Groups of 30+ were taught basic cartooning techniques including drawing cartoon character types, as well as drawing caricatures of some famous faces – lots of fantastic interpretations from each group!  Posts will be more regularly updated this year as Funnyworks Oz will hopefully be involved in lots of new and exciting ventures.

Programs For the New Year

‘Funnyworks Oz’ will be providing lots of new and exciting cartooning and creative program in the New Year as well as tutoring for individuals as part of the NDIS initiative.  Now NDIS registered, I hope to expand into this creative therapy based support area, offering unique and individualised tutoring as well as group sessions.  More info soon!

Complex Needs Conference Preso

Funnyworks Oz will be presenting at the Complex Needs Conference at the Rex Hotel Canberra Tuesday 17th November.  The conference will have organisations from around the country attending and I feel very fortunate to have my 15 minute window of opportunity to describe services Funnyworks Oz provides to the community sector.

On Wednesday I will also be co presenting with Julia Bocking from ACT Mental Health on the “Drawing Forward” goal setting alternatives to smoking program, which will be another great opportunity of exposure.

Looking forward to it and hope to see lots of service providers there!

Now NDIS Registered

Funnyworks Oz is now NDIS registered and able to tutor special needs young people through to adults either one on one or in groups!  Highly effective visual and interactive sessions that are unique through “Quick Draw” and humour.  A mixture of cartooning and life skill themes make sessions fun and memorable!
